While legislature in Iowa has been working hard to rid the entire state of red light cameras, the governor was finally forced to admit that his administration had been lying to the public about the program’s safety record.
An article on kcautv.com has compiled great quotes from Iowa state legislators and other state officials:
- “They really don’t think this is something that really enhances public safety, and so I think there’s a lot of public opposition, and states like Arizona have banned them and I understand why.”
- “I just don’t like the idea of these cameras. I don’t think they’re fair to the motorists, because you don’t even know who’s accusing you, and so I just think it’s kind of a money grab.”
One State Representative has already proposed a constitutional amendment outlawing red light cameras, but a constitutional amendment takes years to pass.
A statewide ban of red light cameras is looking like a strong possibility. Groups like Campaign for Liberty and National Motorists Association, who are adamantly opposed to camera tickets, are encouraging Iowans to contact all their state legislators and the governor in support of this ban.

#4 15 Simultaneous Red Light Camera Protests in Florida
News broke this week that a full ban on red light cameras was filed in Florida state legislature.
Back in April, groups in 15 cities got together at the same time to protest scameras. The video speaks for itself!
Campaign For Liberty, or C4L has been heavily involved in the fights to remove unconstitutional red light cameras and photo radar devices from this country’s streets and intersections.
It’s hard to argue with their results when you consider that after just a few years of pushing back, so-called “photo enforcement” of traffic violations has been banned in 15 states and been voted on by citizens 18 times, including last week in Albuquerque. All 18 times, cameras have been voted down.
One of their state board of directors was interviewed last month by Liberty News Network at LPAC, a conference for Liberty Activists, in Reno, NV. Featured at the conference were speakers Rep. Ron Paul, Sen. Rand Paul, Sen. Mike Lee, Rep. Justin Amash, Doug Wead, Bruce Fein, Columnist Jack Hunter and even actor Vince Vaughn.
