Photo Radar and Red Light Camera Ban Passes Arizona Senate Judiciary Committee

Arizonans have been wanting a vote on photo ticketing in overwhelming numbers since 2008. State legislature has another chance to send it to the voters in 2012. Will they honor their constituency?

Have you ever received a camera ticket in Arizona, even if you’re from out of state? Did you know that you don’t have to pay it?

The system is rife with flaws, controversy and outright fraud. Arizona voters hope 2012 is the year they finally put a stop to the system.

Arizona State Senators have requested to hear from both Arizona voters and tourists who have received camera tickets.

AZ Legislature Passes a Bill to Raise Photo Tickets by $13

Can anyone tell members of the Arizona House and Senate were anxious to “take their ball and go home?” After burning the midnight oil all the way until 5:30 am today, dozens of bills were passed in a flurry.

One of the bills would raise photo tickets by $13, for those who have been personally served. SB1398, as it now appears, would do just that, but who knows what it will say when the final version is updated.

We can be certain about one thing, in the first legislative session, Arizona passed exactly zero bills that would curb or completely eliminate photo radar and red light cameras from our roads and intersections. And nobody is surprised.

Check back later for more details on what this bill actually says when someone gets around to posting the final version and if the Gov, Jan Brewer, decides not to veto it.

State senator Linda Gray’s district is invaded by the RINO Patrol

The Arizona Republican Party’s platform clearly states that it is against the use of photo radar, yet Linda Gray continues to vote in favor of it. She voted no to both SB 1352 and SCR 1029, which would abolish the use of photo radar.

SCR 1029 would require a citizens’ vote to enact the ban and it passed the AZ Senate last week. Will the AZ House Republicans do the right thing and vote to ban the dangerous money making scam run by ATS and Redflex of Australia?

The volunteers who put fliers up in District 10, which is in Glendale, sent in a copy of the flyer and a little video.

Enjoy!

SB1352 Fails in Senate 15-15

The early returns are in on SB1352 and it’s not what we were hoping for. The worst part about this vote is how many republicans violated their own party platform and voted with the democrats to continue the shredding of your constitutional rights. Every single Democrat voted no if you’re scoring at home.

We expect this kind of behavior from Linda Gray, Adam Driggs, Nancy Barto and John Nelson.

However, Michele Reagan and John McCommish should really be ashamed of themselves. They’ve seen firsthand the legislative memos and crash data that proves these cameras are dangerous and violate your rights, yet they voted to continue the scheme in the sole interest of taking YOUR money.

We are asking that Reagan and McComish reconsider their votes on this issue. Contact them today and let them know what a terrible decision their “No” vote was on SB1352. We already saw one bill reconsidered and passed today, so let’s make it two tomorrow.
